A typical school day

The school gates open at 8.35am and children can come into school at this time.  We have a ten minute flexible start and the gates close at 8.45am when registers are taken.

Registers close at 8.50am

Playtime is from 10.30 to 10.50am.

Lunchtime is from 12.00pm to 1.00pm.

Home time is at 3.15pm.

The school's weekly provision equals 33 hours and 20 minutes.

Most Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) classes have English and Maths in the morning and other subjects in the afternoon.

EYFS:
Our younger pupils come into school to a range of activities. They use Continuous Provision (Explore and Do) which means that for most of the day, the children have time to self explore within the learning environment, both inside and outside.  They have whole class focus times for phonics, maths and other activities.  There are also adult directed tasks that children are asked to complete.

They will have a snack mid morning together as a class and then move back to Explore and Do learning.

They break for lunch at about 11.50am where they go down to the hall.  They then have lunch play along with the whole school until 1.00pm.

They then have afternoon register followed by more Explore and Do time until about 2.45pm where they will then have a story and whole class time before home time at 3.15pm.

KS1:
KS1 also come into activities in the classroom.  They then will have a phonics session followed by English and then Maths.

They go out to play at 10.30am for twenty minutes.

After lunch, KS1 tend to do their topic learning.  KS1 children still have access to Explore and Do times where they can follow thier own interests within the learning enviroment.  At the beginning of Year 1, children have more access to Explore and Do times.

KS2:
In KS2, the children tend to have Maths and English in the mornings and then topic/other curriculum subjects in the afternoon.
