PE

At London Meed we have a varied and exciting PE curriculum that is enjoyed by children from Reception up to Year 6.

We follow a skills based curriculum through the forum of Real PE planning, which allows for children to access learning at the correct level of challenge for them, ensuring they can access personal challenge, as well as focusing on the holistic and personal social and emotional aspects of PE. We encourage teamwork and high levels of communication through our planning that allows all children to succeed.

We also teach some team sports that are taught explicitly, as well as Outdoor and Adventurous activities (OAA) in upper KS2. All children have the opportunity to take part in swimming as part of our curriculum in year 5.

London Meed School Sports Competition Intent Statement

At London Meed Primary School, our sports competitions are designed to promote physical well-being, teamwork, and a spirit of healthy competition among all students. We aim to provide every child with the opportunity to participate, enjoy, and challenge themselves in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our primary objectives are to:

  • Encourage active participation from all students, regardless of ability.

  • Foster values such as fairness, respect, perseverance, and cooperation.

  • Develop students’ physical skills, confidence, and understanding of sportsmanship.

  • Celebrate individual and team achievements through friendly competition.

  • Create a fun and memorable experience that strengthens our school community.

Through a variety of events, we strive to instill a lifelong love for sport and physical activity in every student.
