Governors

Welcome to the Governors' section !

Governors are volunteers made from parents, staff and members of the community. They play an important part in overseeing the running of the school. Governors 'govern' rather than manage, they are there to give direction and focus by performing a vital strategic role, ensuring the best possible education is provided for the children of London Meed. The Governors are extremely proud of the staff and pupils and of their achievements.

Meet some of the Governors here ....

Andy Beard ( Chair )

I became a Parent Governor in February 2009 and formally took over the role as Chair of Governors in May 2010. My main motivation for taking an active role in the school was to use some of my professional skills to help maintain and improve the high standards of education that our children receive. I have one daughter in KS2 and another daughter joining in a few years time.
Like most parents I really care that all our children enjoy their time at school and receive a high quality education in a safe, stimulating and well-equipped environment.
For my day job I work for a very large global IT company as an IT Architect.  In my spare time (if I can find any!) I enjoy trying to windsurf, visiting the gym and spending time with the family.

Tracy Newman

I am a mother to three children, two of which are currently at London Meed, and a part- time teacher at another local primary school. I became a parent governor at London Meed as I wanted to play an active part in my children’s education and firmly believe children’s happiness at school is paramount to their learning. I have recently become chair of the personnel committee and I have found the role interesting, challenging and very rewarding. I am enjoying, and feel privileged to be, working alongside such a committed, knowledgeable, friendly governing body which are striving to maintain and develop this wonderful school.

John Ward

I am a retired bank manager with two grandchildren at London Meed School. I’m a sports fanatic and play football, tennis, badminton, golf and enjoy skiing holidays too. Recently I’ve taken up ballroom dancing!

I am determined that every child is given every opportunity under the ’Every Child Matters’ agenda, to be healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being.

Ashley Venditto

As a parent and employee of a local secondary school, I believe passionately in the importance of developing our children and ensuring their happiness and well being. My wish is to make a positive contribution to the community and to ensure we provide a caring and compassionate environment for our children on their journey to fulfilling their individual potential.

Iain Mackrory-Jamieson
(Vice-Chair)

I became a Parent Governor in October 2009. With one daughter in KS1 and another applying to the school for a place next year, I want to do everything I can to help the school maintain its standards, and to become outstanding in every respect. My paid job is being part of the senior management team of a national charity.

Simon Alexander

Originally from The Isle of Wight, I moved to Sussex in 1991. I settled in the local area about 10 years ago and love living and working in Burgess Hill. I am married with one daughter who attends London Meed School.

Sylvia Lewis

I was appointed to the Governing Body in September 2010 as an Authority Governor. I have been a primary school teacher for over thirty years, the last ten years as an Assistant Head. I recently married and moved to Sussex to enjoy my retirement. I enjoy walking, bird watching and going to concerts.

Terry Prue

For over 30 years I’ve been one of those Mid Sussex residents who spends my working hours in London but with semi-retirement I can now get involved in the local issues that I believe are so important. My specific interest in education is fuelled by having been an employer for many years and also because I have two children who are themselves involved in education and five grandchildren in the early stages of their school careers.
I’m proud to be joining the London Meed Governors from September 2011.

Terina Bryant

I have been Clerk to the Governors at London Meed since November 2008, and very much my role. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, especially baking and going on camping holidays with my family.
